- Contact a Participating Chevrolet Volt Dealer
- A customer should ask for a Volt specialist to place an order with the dealer.

- Once the order has been prioritized by the dealer and accepted for production by Chevrolet, the customer will be contacted again and given an order number. The customer will be able to track their order and build progress through a new Chevrolet customer website.

Initial demand may exceed our production for the first year. If that happens, some initial orders will not be built in the 2011 MY. We are aware and pleased that many people are eager to own a Volt. In the hopes of setting realistic expectations with prospective customers, we have provided timing and quantity of product with each participating dealer.
How will a customer know if they get to buy a Volt after they placed an order at their local dealer?
Once an order has been prioritized by the dealer and then accepted for production by Chevrolet, the customer will be contacted. At that point, the customer will have web-based order tracking capability and can follow its build progress. The dedicated Volt advisor and dealer will also be able to provide updates.

OTHER TOP Q&A’s:
What is the Volt?
The Chevrolet Volt is an electric vehicle with extended-range capability. The Volt is capable of about 340 miles total driving range, with electricity powering the car at all times and speeds. For trips of up to 40 miles, the Volt gets its power solely from electricity stored in its 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. When the Volt’s battery runs low, an engine-generator seamlessly engages to extend the driving range for an additional 300 miles on a full tank of gas.

How long does it take to recharge?
The Volt will take about 4 hours to recharge on 240 volts or about 10 hrs on a standard 120-volt home outlet. A 20 ft., portable vehicle charge cord will come standard and designed to work with any standard 120-volt outlet. Chevrolet is also working with a partner that will assist customers in installing 240-volt stations in their homes. The partner has not been announced.
What retail markets have you announced?
Today we announced that we are adding Texas, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to the list of Volt launch markets joining California, Washington D.C., and Michigan. That brings the initial Volt retail markets to seven. The retail launch in Texas and New York will begin with Austin and New York City in late 2010. The balance of Texas and New York, as well as New Jersey and Connecticut, are scheduled to begin receiving Volts in early 2011.
Why these 7 markets?
These 7 markets provide a number of attractive elements. First by choosing these markets we can expose and sell Volts to customers coast-to-coast in some of the largest markets in the country. Some states - such as California and Michigan - have a large automotive and advanced technology customer base. Others like Texas and Washington D.C. offer progressive local and state governments and utilities who are working aggressively to advance the consumer adoption of electric vehicles.
Are you going to announce more retail markets this year?
We plan to announce additional markets as we move into the 2012 model year.
Why can’t you roll out the Volt to all 50 states at the beginning of the launch?
We appreciate the enthusiasm for Volt and the desire so many people have to get Volt into their communities as soon as possible. As with the launch of any new technology, the initial customer experience is critical to the ultimate adoption by the mass market. A strategic roll-out will ensure a better customer experience for our Volt owners and pave the way for electrification of the automotive industry. Consider that electric vehicle ownership involves new decisions from consumers such as making the decisions to install a home charger or a separate meter and so on. By concentrating in selected markets, developing the experience and making process improvements before distributing Volt nationally, we can ensure a better overall customer experience and ultimately better adoption of this new technology.
As a reminder, we will expand our distribution quickly. Volt will be sold in 50 states, within 12 - 18 months of the start of initial sales. We plan to announce additional markets as we move into the 2012 model year.
When are you going to be national with Volt retail?
We expect to be in all 50 states in about 12-18 months after the start of production.
How does a consumer get a free charging station from ECOtality and Coulomb?
The first Volt buyers may be eligible for one of 4,400 free home charging stations from either charging station supplier ECOtality, Inc. or Coulomb Technologies. These programs will provide Volt owners with a 240-volt charge station. In many cases, it will include the cost of home installation. Volt buyers that live within the program cities can apply for a free 240-volt home charging station through the Coulomb or ECOtality DOE program if they are willing to share their charging information. Additional consumer information on eligibility requirements and the application process will be available when the Volt goes on sale later this year.
What is the status of the Volt program?
The Volt is on-time for production to start late this year. We expect to begin selling Volts in our launch markets by the end of this year.
